Lucifer Sons of Old Blog Tour

The Lucifer Sons of Old Trilogy Blog Tour hosted by Annabel Cadiz from Team Nerd Reviews stops here today!!!
Synopsis

Have you ever wondered what could be hiding in the shadows?

Well, for eighteen-year-old Zahara Faraday, she doesn’t have to wonder. You see she comes from a lineage of Light Witches, those who have chosen to help protect and serve between the supernatural world and the human world. The only problem is Zahara, like her father Solomon, is as human as a human being can be whereas her mother, Mia, and her Aunt Catalina, were born as Light Witches. As a family they hunt down rogue supernaturals—creatures who harm humans or who have committed an act against their kingdom.

Zahara’s hunting skills are usually kept dormant since her parents would prefer she live life as a normal human girl without knowledge of the supernatural world. She plans on doing just that—except when she finds a couple being attacked by fairies, she has no choice but to step in. Before she can return to pretending to be blissfully ignorant, Zahara encounters a problem she isn’t the least equip to handle: Bryan Hamilton, the good looking new co-worker she has to help train. In a heartbeat, her best friend, Becca King, has set her up on a double date with herself and her new crush, Rekesh Saint-Louis, who happens to be the most powerful leader of the biggest Imago Coven in South Florida –supernatural creatures with the ability to control water . . . and suck out human souls.

Zahara has no time to focus on how she’s going to explain her double date with her best friend and the enemy they have a tentative truce with to her parents because soon one of the members of Mia and Catalina’s coven is found murdered with a strange tattoo of a snake with wings carved into his arm.

Zahara is then thrown into a whirlwind battle with an angel determined to have revenge against God, an Imago coven she doesn’t think they should trust, and slew of dream-eating fairies and powerful Nephilims, hybrid children of angels and humans, more than happy to rip her to shreds.

Normal just got a deadlier definition.

Interview with author Annabel Cadiz

The story of how another one came to be is always one of the most fascinating things when it comes to books. So, as banal a question as this must seem, I have to start with how did Lucifer come about?

LUCIFER was actually not a planned book. I had no real intention to write the SONS OF OLD TRILOGY. The idea for the trilogy came after I had written the first two drafts to the first book in the FALLEN ANGELS SERIES (the series that comes after the SONS OF OLD TRILOGY). I had also written partial drafts to the second and third book then decided to take a step back. I didn’t know how I would want to move forward with the series, so I started wondering if maybe I should just write pieces to place on my old (no longer existing) site for fun. I started wondering what the story before what happens in the FALLEN ANGELS SERIES began. How did Lucifer wind up with a child? Did a woman actually fall in love with him? Was he capable of love? Would he just force a woman to have his baby? The questions expanded into characters which expanded into a plot and the rest is history ;)

I loved all the characters but I have to admit that I have a particular soft spot for Becca and Rekesh. Who is your favourite character and why?

Awe, yay! I’m glad you have fun with all the characters since there are so many! Becca and Rekesh are definitely entertaining *hehe* I love all my characters for a variety of reasons, so it’s hard to just choose one. I am very fond of Leanian and Chamuel. Leanian because he is a true Ninja! He just sneaks up on you and you never see him coming. He’s definitely dangerous but he’s also loyal and genuine. Chamuel is deliciously dangerous. You’ll want to kiss him and punch him then kiss him again =P He’s scary deadly since he’s a fallen angel and he has a wicked sense of humour ;)

When I think back to Lucifer I think of action, mystery, darkness and light and..... Becca’s clothes. I know it must sound really silly but it’s one of those details that just stuck in my mind. It’s obvious that you gave it a lot of thought and care, making this character stand out even more and making her wardrobe become part of her personality. What made you decide this? Do you reckon she has more quirks to show us?

I’m not a big fashion person. I like to wear what feels comfortable and what feels me. Becca is very much the same way. Her clothes are just a way for her to express who she is and experiment. I hadn’t really thought about making her stand out. I just thought about how Becca would want to express herself and how to make sure the reader connected with that expression. Becca is always going to be genuine to herself in everything she does, it’s an aspect of her I love. Oh I’m sure Becca has more quirks! She’s such a weirdo nerd after all *hehe*

Reading, writing and books are a renowned stable diet of yours, but when your nose isn’t stuck in a book (like all of us bookworms :p ), where might we find you in your spare time?

That’s tough because I carry a book in my purse wherever I go ;) But when I’m being patient and keeping my books locked away in my purse, you’ll find me hanging out with my family and close friends. I’ll be out shopping with my mom or running errands. Yelling from the stands at my nephew’s soccer practice and games. Out to dinner with family and friends. Movie night with my girlfriends or with my nephew.

Lucifer deals with a variety of creatures and individuals, not all of which from our reality. If you could be anything other than human, which would you choose to be?

Oooo I love this question! So many supernatural and paranormal creatures to choose from! If I’m choosing from LUCIFER I’d love to be an Imago. If Rekesh wasn’t a rogue supernatural and still attained his magical connection to the Celeste Kingdom, he would be able to manipulate the element of water. I would love to be able to create water from the air and create my own waves at the beach. I would be able to actually learn how to surf because I could keep the water steady with me *hehe* I also love that the skin of an Imago, when the glamour is pulled away, turns silver. It would be cool to have skin that turned silver!

Each character you create is complex and so diverse, and personally I have found something to like in all of them. It is obvious that it has taken you time and patience to make every single one of them as we read them now. But out of all them which one gave you the most trouble to figure out and depict?

Awe, that’s like the best compliment ever! *BIG SQUEEZE* I’m so glad you had so much fun with the characters =D That is equally a fantastic question! It’s also a toughie because I tend to figure out my characters pretty easily. They all start from a simple thought or from a question or from something I see. I guess it was equally difficult to figure out Dustin and Jason. They weren’t characters I had planned for and they came into the story as a surprise to me. I’m still discovering their characters since many of the other characters (outside of Solomon, Mia, Eric, and Charles) were already established characters.

I really loved the cover and keep thinking back to the tagline that’s on it:

“The line between love and hate. Revenge”

Now having done English literature for a fair few years and having used love and hate as main themes repeatedly, I know there is volumes that could be said on each one alone, let alone the two combined. But I’m curious as to why you chose this sentence specifically and what does it mean to you?

LOVE this question! I chose the tagline after spending a few hours trying to figure out the right way to summarize the essence of the book while enticing the reader. It all goes back to Lucifer himself. He was one of the most glorious angels God ever created. He was beautiful and trusted. But Lucifer rebelled against the one who created him and brought war to the place he had called home. Love turned into Hate. Was it because of his ego? Was it because he felt God favoured humanity over him? Was he simply jealous or bitter? Did he feel abandoned? Lucifer’s love for his Creator turned into hate and created a need for revenge. For Lucifer the line between love and hate is to act in revenge. He has no idea or understanding of compassion or forgiveness or healing. There is no middle ground for him. He sees those emotions, those traits as a weakness and wants nothing to do with them. He sees revenge as power and power is what he cares about most.

Lucifer speaks of adventure, paranormal, romance, mystery and so much more whilst weaving themes of betrayal, friendship, family and hope. Once again a lot of thought has gone into these, and I was wondering which of the themes is very close to your heart?

Friendship, family, and hope are all important themes in my own life. I am SUPER close to my family. I grew up idolizing my brother and we have a really close relationship. My siblings and I were raised to always be there for each other and take care of each other. My values are God first, family second, friends third, and everything else afterward. Family and close friends make life more beautiful and valuable. I work hard to be a good sister, daughter, aunt and best friend. No matter what else I accomplish in life, if I cannot be good to the people who have stood by me through my journey of life, then I’m doing something wrong.
Hope is such an important element to living. Hope gives us strength and courage to keep moving forward and believing we can accomplish great things in our lives. Hope is that small light that shines in the darkness, reminding the world that the darkness won’t last forever. That’s such a necessary thing to remember in our everyday lives.

As the title, Sons of Old trilogy suggests, you have started a long journey with Zahara, Brian, Rekesh and Becca. With all the writing you’ll be doing, do you think there’ll be any side novellas?

Honestly, I don’t know right. Me and my two best buds, Bubbles and Hello Kitty (a.k.a. Bridget and Eve) are planning on writing some novelettes together that have to do with the characters from the SONS OF OLD TRILOGY. Those may start being written once MICHAEL is fully done. You’ll just have to keep checking my author site or twitter or facebook, for updates on that! I’ll be posting about them when the time comes ;)

Judging by your style and your passion for reading and writing, I would venture a guess that Lucifer is the start of something bigger than just the Sons of Old trilogy. Now I know it’s a little soon to be thinking about new books and such, but I was wondering..... Do you think we’ll see you writing more after this? Any more cool stories stashed away and yet to be told?

Of course! I have the FALLEN ANGELS SERIES planned to come sometime after the SONS OF OLD TRILOGY which is a four book series. I also want to write a story with mermaids or sirens. I’ve been plotting one. I haven’t figured out all the details yet but that may be a really good possibility. I might publish that one in between the final book to the SONS OF OLD TRILOGY and the first book in the FALLEN ANGELS SERIES. I’ve also been thinking of venturing into Christian fiction. Don’t have anything concrete yet but there’s an idea sitting in the back of mind *insert mad scientist laugh*

Lucifer was a whirlwind of read that left me agape and wanting to re-read it again to make sure I hadn’t missed anything the first time. I won’t bother asking if we can expect more in the sequel because I know full well you have loads more in store for us hehehehe! But I was wondering if maybe you’d like to give us a little something/detail to drool over and think about? Pretty please? *gives big puppy pleading eyes*

LMBO! Not the big puppy dog eyes! Oh fine, I’ll give you a little something to keep you salivating for more *hehe*
In MICHAEL, the sequel to LUCIFER, Zahara and company are trying to stay busy while they wait for Lucifer’s next attack. They have no idea where he is or how to find him, but Lucifer is closer to them than they know. One night when Zahara and Becca are heading to Rekesh’s house, they nearly run over a man in the road. The man turns out to be a Nephilim named Gabriel. After they help him recover, he’s taken to Charles’s school. As Zahara, Becca, and Jason help Gabriel settle into training at the school, Rekesh’s coven comes under fire as Imagoes are being killed and the crest of Rekesh’s coven engraved into the bodies. Rekesh believes Lucifer is framing his coven but has no idea what he could possibly gain from that. Meanwhile, Becca is determined to get her parents to see that a relationship between her and Rekesh can work.
Someone close from Rekesh’s past returns which Rekesh isn’t completely happy about. Lucifer is on the move to gain more power and he’s reunited with one of his angelic brothers. Zahara starts to develop feelings for someone that even surprises her and the ending introduces a new major player along with some shocking twists.
So what do you think? You excited to read MICHAEL yet? *wink wink*
